About Me
I grew up in Eagan, Minnesota and still carry my deep midwestern roots (including my love of black coffee!) I fell in love with the Northwest during a high school choir trip and have been an Oregonian since 1996. I received my B.S, in Biological Sciences from California Lutheran University, then spent three years doing cancer research at the City of Hope and the Ohio State University. I received my M.D. degree from Ohio State, and completed my residency in Family Medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. I have been Board Certified in Family Medicine since 1996.
After practicing for 23 years at Santa Clara Medical Clinic, we were no longer able to continue providing the compassionate care that was the signature of our independent clinic for nearly 27 years, and still remain financially viable. The choice was abruptly made for us to close our beloved clinic and transfer some of our providers to one of the large medical corporations in town, offering our patients a choice to transfer their care as well. I could not in good conscience sign on to a system I truly feel is geared more towards making insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies richer rather than remotely caring about your health, and made the decision to pursue establishing my own Direct Primary Care practice instead. I am grateful to all those who helped me see that with this model I get to continue caring for people AND loving my job! I have two incredibly intelligent, beautiful, funny and independent daughters, Alex and Olivia, and their unending support of their mom never ceases to amaze me. They also share my shameless love of needy animals, and our menagerie is down to two horses, two dogs, and a cat who (of course) rules the house. |
